So here I share you this with you all...

He was not exceptionally smart in school, but was fascinated by religion and rockets. The first rocket he built crashed. A missile he built crashed multiple times and he was made a butt of ridicule. He is the person to have scripted the space Odyssey of India single-handedly.

He is now the President of India - Dr. APJ ABDUL KALAM.

Experimenting with stocks @ NASDAQ, NYSE.... :D

As I lost 3000 bucks in the first day of my virtual trading in the Indian stock market, I decided to try my luck in the NYSE and the NASDAQ markets... as some of my favourite companies are listed in these markets... yup.. Google too :D cheers to Google :)

So, after searching for "virtual" stock simulator for these markets, I found "investopedia.com" for myself to experiment on... I swiftly went through the registration pages and got my registration done... as it was only 1830 hrs here in India.. so there was still half an hour left for the markets to open... i checked out some techie stocks on finance.google.com... and again... hats off to google for creating such an awesome application for simple and very fast analysis of stocks... just awesome...

finally the clock ticks 1900 hrs and i started off watching the market... first come the Google itself... :) bought it at $529 and as expected straightaway giving profit to my piggy bank :) as always expected... :) Then i eyed at Microsoft.. :) and bought 50 of it at $38.91... and again started making profit with it... :)

firstly, i decided to go on with this till 2100 hrs and then back off.... but................... i closed it at 0130 hrs only when stock market closed... :D

then i started reading some business news :) and see how stock fluctuates with effect from the business news... one company (i dont remember the name) was purchased by another giant company GlaxoSmithKline..... and guess.... the stock price of the company shoot up 80% straightaway... :D :D this shows how the expectations build up among the investors when they are purchased by big companies...

i bought many more shares including GlaxoSmithKline, Apple Inc, nVidia, Hewlett Packard, and many more....

The stock market was highly fluctuating.... one time making profit of $220 and other time $50... my heart was beating so fast with the market even being bidding in the virtual market.. god knows.. what will happen in the real world... :D

finally, the stock market closed and I ended up with making $169.54 profit on the first day itself... (1.19%) which was above the market rise.. :D now i can think myself of being a good investor.... so give me your money... and i will grow it up.. :)

Getting weird with wireless.....

evening is quite a boring time to spend here :(, with nothing really exciting to do. all you can think about after 9 hrs of classes is to get some rest. but it seems gods had a different plan today. i was tweaking with my wireless router, when it just occurred to me how wonderful a thing is wireless. so i just thought to start a series about the what's and how's of wireless. and what could be a better forum than this blog.
it will be trivial to say that the world of wireless technologies is unbounded(yet, i said that :D).
so to start with i choose one very familiar topic-BLUE TOOTH. just as a matter of fact(though many of the readers may be knowing this), i must mention that Blue tooth was named after a 10th century Viking King, Harald Blatand (Bluetooth in English), who united Denmark and Norway - hence the inspiration for the idea of 'uniting devices with Bluetooth'. ( good analogy.. :D )

Bluetooth started in 1998 when five major companies (Ericsson, Nokia, IBM, Toshiba, and Intel) formed a group to create a license-free technology for universal wireless connectivity in the handheld market. Today, there are more than 800 companies using Bluetooth technology in their devices. and needless to say, we're witnessing the v2 today.

so what exactly goes behind a Bluetooth device, lets talk in some detail.
first things first.... core specifications.....
As with other technologies, Bluetooth also has a Bluetooth protocol stack which differs from the "classical" seven-layer networking model in some ways... (we leave "seven layer networking" for some other day)
At the base is radio frequency protocol... next comes Baseband.. followed by Link manager protocol, Audio, Data, HCI Protocol, Service Discovery protocol and lastly the Applications...

radio frequency - The radio is the lowest layer. Its interface specification defines the characteristics of the radio front end, frequency bands, channel arrangements, permissible transmit power levels, and receiver sensitivity level.
what makes bluetooth a license free technology is its 2.4-GHz ISM(Industrial, scientific, and medical) which is globally available for license free usage. though this specification varies around the world (US and countries like Spain and France using different Bandwidths for the same purpose), bluetooth ingeniously overcomes this problem by providing 79(yes 79!) 1 MHz spaced bands for US and most of Europe while 23 1 MHz spaced bands for japan, france and spain.

A day in Virtual Stock Market

so after pages and pages of coding talk, many of you would have taken me for another comp geek. but i m back, and this time with some heady stuff.........
was just sitting idle in my room when a friend picked up the threads on share markets and investments. and i being a money buff just became too eager to experiment with this thing too, taking it just as a kind of sport. so i log on to all sorts of investment websites and delve into the business pages of today's news edition. i churn out names of companies which have been growing and giving good returns. armed with this knowledge, i start my quest for some hands-on experience. of course, i m too naive to just invest in the real sense of the word. but fortunately, there are people out there who help you learn. and what could be better than an investment simulating game. a quick search and many of them pop-up. i select the one which is most popular among my friends www.moneybhai.com. so i'm ready for the roll. "wow, yet another cool concept.bless you", was my first reaction on getting through the registration part of the site. so after some initial struggle i'm ready to invest. a silent prayer is sent to heaven,"let it be a prosperous affair".
"let's start with banks", my brain ordered and i complied, and i start with none other than the ICICI. i buy 100 shares at the quoted price and wait. the shares are taken and i have invested close to INR 50000 out of my (relatively huge :D)bundle of INR 25,00,000. the beginning is good, i begin with a profit, albeit very little ;).
but the happiness is not there to stay. today being a bad day for the banks, soon i realise my folly and turn to other avenues,this time the choice being TCS. the initial run is good, my losses are lessening but soon i start losing on this front too :(. but not to worry there are too many options and dont forget i have much too money too spare :).
so on a friends' advice i push more, investing in the likes of BAJAJ AUTO (taking cue from my dad), DLF, Infosys and many more. by the end of the day i am a big time buyer, with more than a dozen companies on my profile and 1000 shares by my side and a big chunk of my booty in the game now. some shares climb and some fall, but i retain them all(good rhyme isn't it!). a big time invester had once said "its not buying or selling that makes you rich. you become rich by holding.". so inspite of losses, my brave decision is to hold my (virtual) shares.
on the end of the first day, i am poorer by some 3,000 bucks :(. but still i am happy to have learnt the basics of this money game. now i am really looking forward to getting into the real pond. my friend, although slightly disheartened at the loss on this first day, is ready to be with me when we transform from virtual to real market. and this time the stakes will be higher but so will be our confidence and desire to win.
lets hope for the best

Hello everybody...

Sorry for being late in writing this post... Anyways, it doesn't matter much as there are not many readers for me, atleast for now... ;(

As I have Computer Programming I course as part of my curriculum here in BITS Pilani and today, I have a Practical Online Test just 6 hours from now.... :) So, after practicing it & getting bored of the Character User Interface (CUI), now I would like to bore you and a quick revision for myself... :)

After finishing off with practicing writing C codes, I switched to trying commands in Unix.

The best thing I like about the Unix was the ability of many users to use it simultaneously... I used the command "who" and saw "257" people working... and trying to crack the test.. :D and it was working very smoothly with its CUI.. :)

It was a fun multicasting to all the people and seeing them getting irritated of these popups like messages while they are busy applying their brain in the mind-tangling codes... :D

Unix also got beautiful "grep" command for searching different patterns in the files.. It got an excellent flexibility of searching different different patterns... It makes it very easy to search for a complex pattern in the files..

While using Unix, I got into the root directory of the OS and got excited... (root is equivalent to the administrator on Windows platform) But when I tried commands on the root prompt, it showed "Permission Denied" and then I rolled back to my "permissible" directory....... :(

Now, I think I should get back to my study else will get a BIG O in the test... which is just 5 hours 14 minutes from now... :) Sorry for writing such a short post...

Next time, I will be writing some interesting posts on C language... and will also give codes for some of my program which I made while practicing for my Practical test... :)

Ubuntu(Linux) vs Windows

Hello again...

Now I am going to tell you about my experiences (though not a long experience, but still... ;) ) with using Ubuntu and Windows Vista, both on my computer...

Transition from Windows beautiful environment to Ubuntu was quite smooth... Faced no problem installing Ubuntu and getting it dual boot with Windows.

There was some problem with my dvd rom.. So I just faced little difficulty in getting the Ubuntu's Live CD to run... But otherwise, it was fine.. :)

Now, when Ubuntu got installed on my PC, I was just waiting for the system to boot up.. and try exploring the Linux World... :) On the first run, it asked the basic configuration and administrator details ( which obviously was me :) ) And then it starts.. :)

Now a little truth about the Linux looks... which obviously is the first thing someone sees...
Windows is Googolian ( I hope, Google fans would have got it ;) ) times better than Linux as far as looks are concerned... :D Really, those transparent looks, fading of the windows, etc etc are unmatchable with those of Ubuntu.. I found one funny thing with the Ubuntu.. When you move the title bars of the boxes (windows ;) i think in linux, they are called nautilus), it just bounces with the mouse.. :D just try it yourself.. its really damn funny...

Ages back, when I installed Windows XP on my machine with Cam, sound card, graphics card, etc... it just automatically detected most of the drivers for it... But Ubuntu, which is in competition with Windows Vista, lacks this thing... Just unbelievable... You manually have to install them and get them working...

Ubuntu very efficiently detected my Wireless Card but my net didnt work... :( Finally, I found out that the IPv6 and IPv4 were conflicting and then got them resolved.. Its really very troublesome for some beginner to rectify it on their own..

And most of the softwares and games, which you use on your Windows machine, will not run on Linux.. :( Before installing Linux, make yourself habitual of playing games like, Chess, Mines, etc, etc... which are coming on Windows since ages... :D

And people generally say that Windows is too prone to Virus attacks... But they forgets, millions of minds are working to defame Microsoft Windows... and literally noone is working to defame Linux which is Open Source...

Really, Linux needs a lot improvements to compete with Windows in their User Interface(UI)
They cant catch and hold users with this kind of UI.. It is gem for administrators but until it got UI which can match that of Windows, it can never replace Windows...

Since, I am not so much experienced with Ubuntu, I cant write more.. Will keep writing with my new experiences with Ubuntu.. And I am very soon going to try Fedora.. :)

Google's April Fool joke...

As you already know, I am fan of Google.... And like always, Google roll out their very famous "April Fool joke". This time, Google fooled us all (although I already guessed it rightly) by their new term "gDay with MATE"... :D

Hello,

After browsing so many blogs of my colleagues and saw people making $$$$ ;), I finally decided to write a blog of my own.... Lets see how regular I get with this one.... and getting "aashirwaad" of Lakshmiji, the goddess of Wealth... ;)

So let me tell you a little about myself... Well, I am a Computer geek.. You can contact me anytime for any of your computer related problem.. And don't blame me, if your computer ends fusing up... :D

I have worked on numerous projects based on Web Apps and Desktop Apps right from my 4th Standard.. :D My skill set includes web languages involving Web 2.0...

By now, you must have guessed what this blog gonna mainly contain... :) I will jot down my new-new discoveries on this Internet and technologies.. And my new ideas too which looks very much fictitious.. :D

And ya, I am a BIG fan of big G... Google... I like keeping a track of how it works, the changes made by them in their Search algorithm with time, etc etc.. Watch them out as I write about them... I also give considerable amount of time researching on Image Search which is a under-developed technology in IP..

Recently, I installed Ubuntu on my system owing to the rumors that its better than Windows.. But I really find Windows a far better in terms of Visual appearance.. But Ubuntu too got advantages over Windows too... But let me not got into details of this in my very first post... ;)

I know, uptil now you must have got really bored of listening my blah blah.. But unlike others, I am not going to end this post with this "age old" line.. So I still have not end eating up your brain.. :)

I like playing with new techie gadgets and everytime ends up finding a new functionality on the device.. :) and sometimes making some functionality lost in the device.. :D

Ooops.. I forgot about my telling you about my acads... which usually comes last in my list... :O I am pursuing my Graduation from BITS Pilani (I hope, you know BITS Pilani) and am in the first year. I opted for a dual degree scheme in M. Sc. Mathematics which is five year course... My other degree will be based on the CGPA I make in my first year.. BTW, I have spoilt my first semester for my over the sem illness... Now lets see what the second semester holds in for me... :) I did my schooling from Delhi Public School Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh... and scored 89.8% and 83.4% in my 10th and 12th standard respectively... So I am a kind of average "school" student... :)

Now, I really think I have tortured you a lot.. So I beg my pardon... ;) with ending up this my very first post...
And would like to thanks Google for buying this "blogspot.com" and making me fan of their one more service... ;)

My next post will be very soon.... :) (hopefully)
